Apropos of the current political climate, Nickelodeon’s Kids Pick The President special got a nasty surprise from Trump supporters.

The cable special, which aired on Tuesday, lets its young audience have a voice by expressing who they think should be the next President of the United States, hit a snag after Nickelodeon spotted users on 4chan chatting about flooding the Kids Pick The President website with votes for Donald Trump. The ViacomCBS owned network detected over 100,000 fault votes in the ballot.

“Though kids are not of an age to vote, Kids Pick the President is a platform where their voices do count, and they deserve to be heard,” the network said in a statement. “And just as kids value honesty and fairness, so do we at Nickelodeon. Therefore, out of respect for kids everywhere and in the spirit of civic responsibility, we present the name of the winner based on votes cast fairly and within our stated guidelines of one vote counted per household device.”

Despite the mishap, after the network carefully vetted and discarded over 100,000 of the bot-generated votes, Democratic nominee Joe Biden beat President Donald Trump, garnering 53% of the vote.

Hosted by Keke Palmer, Kids Pick The President spotlighted young activists such as Mari Copeny and featured guest appearances from Stephen Curry and Kenan and Kel star Kel Mitchell.
