A Family Matters reunion happened on the set of Merry Switchmas, thanks to the film’s young star.

Essence reports that Kellie Shanygne Williams, who played Laura Winslow on the popular ’90s series, reunited with her on-screen mother Jo Marie Payton, who stars in the film. Williams’ daughter, Hannah Belle Jackson, is also starring in the film with Payton.

Williams posted a picture on set with her daughter and Payton, writing, "Three generations (Me, Jo Marie and my daughter) on the set of Merry Little Switchmas."

Merry Little Switchmas, which follows twin sisters who exchange places during their parents Christmas party, is expected for a December 1, 2022 release.

Merry Little Switchmas, which follows twin sisters who exchange places during their parents Christmas party, premieres later this year.

Both Williams and Payton, who played tough-love mom Harriette on Family Matters, are pillars of Black ’90s nostalgia, with fans writing in the Instagram comments about their desire for a reboot. WarnerMedia is, in fact, thinking of creating a reboot, as announced in 2019, but talks are currently described as “exploratory” with no certainty that a reboot will be greenlit. Despite this, there have been several moments that have drummed up fan interest.

Entertainment Weekly held a cast reunion in 2017, but the outlet received blowback from Jaimee Foxworth, who played Judy Winslow, after she revealed no one from the magazine contacted her to participate. “It was a slap in the face from Entertainment Weekly,” she said in 2020. “I don’t think there’s any good explanation. If they want to use adult films as the reason, I’m not the first person to do adult films and won’t be the last.”

Telma Hopkins, who played Aunt Rachel, joined CBS soap The Young and the Restless, also had a Family Matters reunion while playing opposite her on-screen son Bryton James, who played Little Richie as a child.
