Tonya Pinkins and Anika Noni Rose, who previously worked together on stage in the "Caroline, or Change," will reunite for a one-night-only benefit presentation of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage’s "Fabulation, or the Re-Education of Undine," which will be directed by Kenny Leon ("A Raisin in the Sun," "Fences").

Wood Harris and Michael Mastro will join Pinkins and Rose on stage, with showtime set for April 21, at 6:30 PM, at New World Stages in Manhattan NYC.

The benefit is for the non-profit arts education organization Opening Act.

Nottage’s "Fabulation" is described as "a social satire about an ambitious and haughty African American woman, named Undine Barnes Calles, whose husband suddenly disappears after stealing all of her money. Pregnant and on the brink of social and financial ruin, Undine retreats to her childhood home in Brooklyn’s Walt Whitman projects, only to discover that she must cope with a crude new reality. Undine faces the challenge of transforming her setbacks into small victories in a battle to reaffirm her right to be. Fabulation… is a comeuppance tale with a comic twist."

The event also includes a pre-show and post-show reception.

Proceeds of the evening go directly to Opening Act’s free theatre programs. The non-profit organization provides students attending New York City’s most under-served public schools, the opportunity – through theater – to develop leadership, commitment, confidence, and community. Opening Act provides free after-school and extra-curricular programs to the most high-need NYC public high schools that have low graduation rates and a lack of theater and arts programs.
