Kerry Washington surprised Insecure fans by releasing a video teasing her role as director of the upcoming season.

Washington will direct the ninth episode of the HBO hit series. Washington’s episode is expected to air in 2020.

The upcoming season of Insecure has been put on hiatus until 2020 due to Issa Rae’s exploding career.

As we reported in April, HBO programming president said that “when you’re in business with very creative and talented people, there are a lot more opportunities for people to do things. Issa, I think, partly wanted a break to come back fresh.”

Rae later talked about bringing the show back in 2020, revealing that the fourth season will have ten episodes, which is the show’s largest episode number for a season yet and a tick up from the eight episodes of Seasons 1-3.
