First of all, you can’t just mess around and just start rebooting something, you know especially if that something was so amazing and iconic and a gamechanger the first go-round,” she said.

[Series creator Yvette Lee Bowser] created…lightning in a bottle,” she continued. …So for this next go-round, we want to make sure we are true to the characters, true to where they would be…we have to be true to what you expect from the brand of Living Single.”

While she said that the goal is to make reboot that’s meaningful,” Fields also said that the entire cast is busy with other projects, so it’s been hard to find time to work together.

Fields talked about fellow Living Single cast member T.C. Carson not being a part of the final season. Carson recently talked to Comedy Hype, revealing why he had been fired from the final season of the show. Carson said he was let go because of differences between the writers and the cast, with Carson acting as a de facto spokesperson for the cast members. Some of the issues Carson would meet with the crew about on behalf of the cast were stereotypical characterizations and how the show’s marketing was being handled.

“It was very difficult doing the last season without T.C.,” said Fields, adding that she went through a similar upheaval when several cast members were let go from the second season of Facts of Life. The upheaval, she said, is difficult because you become family to your castmates.

“With Living Single, we spent four years together, so that family dynamic changed and none of us really saw it coming,” she added. “It was very difficult personally, professionally, creatively…just know we never stopped being a family behind the scenes and off-camera.”
