Lakeith Stanfield earned rave reviews for his performance in the Boots Riley-directed film, Sorry To Bother You. With acclaimed performances in Atlanta and Get Out on his resume, the actor is keen on continuing to challenge himself and not intent on resting on his laurels.

In an interview with Deadline, Stanfield talked about the success of Sorry To Bother You, as well as his own desire to direct films. “All directors are so different, they all have their own approach,” Stanfield said to Deadline. “They all wear hats.”

Stanfield also revealed that he wants to portray famed Batman villain The Joker. “I want people to dress up as me as Black Joker, when that inevitably happens,” Stanfield said to Deadline. “I just think there are so many things that haven’t been touched yet in terms of how the performance can be delivered.” The demented Batman villain was brought to life by Jack Nicholson in Tim Burton’s 1989 film Batman, but the character was taken to new heights by Heath Ledger’s portrayal in the 2008 film The Dark Knight. Ledger would go on to posthumously win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the comic book villain.
