Giuliana Rancic recently announced her departure from E!’s Live from the Red Carpet on Instagram post and one of our faves will be stepping into the role of host soon
“I have decided to step out of my red carpet heels into a new pair of shoes,” wrote Rancic. “To my E! family, thank you for allowing me to make my red carpet dreams come true for the past two decades. It has truly been a highlight of my career and life.”
Rancic’s departure comes months after co-host Ryan Seacrest also left. In a statement to TVLine, NBCUniversal stated, “While we will all miss watching Giuliana bring her iconic interview style, infectious humor and keen sense of fashion to E!’s red carpet, we are excited to announce a development deal across NBCUniversal where she will bring her passion projects to life. We look forward to collaborating with Giuliana in the future and we will always be her biggest fans — on and off the carpet.”
While Rancic’s departure is bittersweet, the show goes on. Orange Is the New Black vet, Laverne Cox is bringing her talents to Live From the Red Carpet. Cox will begin coverage next year in the 2022 awards season.
In a statement, Cox said, “I’m so excited and deeply humbled to be hosting E!’s iconic red carpet coverage. For many years, I would wake up early on awards-show days, get my snacks in place and watch E!’s coverage all day long. I dreamed of walking red carpets. Now, not only have I had several fun and amazing personal red carpet moments, I also get to be a red carpet guide for E!’s discerning audience and chat with my colleagues and folks I deeply admire for these very special events in their lives. I can’t wait to get started while hopefully serving up fashion fantasies for the ages, honey.”
