Lena Waithe has lined up the second project under her deal at Amazon Studios. The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Amazon is developing a series from Waithe, which is based on the concept of open marriages. Open (working title) would be Waithe’s first series with her writing credit since Twenties.

I’ve never been in an open marriage, but it’s fascinating to me,” Waithe told the outlet. We live in a world where, if I told you I cheated on my wife, you would be like, Yeah, that’s the way it goes.’ But if I told you that I’m in an open marriage, it would be as if I told you I’m joining the Church of Scientology.”

Society has such a conservative way of looking at marriage. I do think that we as a nation need to reevaluate what marriage looks like for us as a country — because whatever we have right now, it ain’t working,” she added.

The first series under her Amazon deal, Them, is an upcoming horror anthology series. The first season of the show, Them: Covenantwas written by Little Marvin and stars Deborah Ayorinde and Ashley Thomas. A premiere date has not been announced.
