Lena Waithe has announced the launch of her Hillman Grad Mentorship Lab. The lab is now accepting applications from marginalized creators for its 2021 Class. The lab is tuition-free.

The Hillman Grad Mentorship Lab will allow 25 marginalized creators “to connect, grow and accelerate their careers in television and film,” giving creators opportunities to spend 10 months with industry professionals from screen acting, television acting and executive development fields. Fellows will also receive educational resources and opportunities to network with others in the entertainment industry.

“Mentorship has always been important to me,” said Waithe in a statement. “The hope is to populate the industry with people that otherwise wouldn’t have access to it. Our focus will be on craft, how to navigate the industry, and how to build community. We’re looking forward to meeting the next generation of storytellers!”

Creators can submit applications at hillmangrad.com.  The application is due January 10, 2021.  Finalists will be notified end of January/early February.  The mentorship lab will begin in mid-February 2021.
