Leslie Jones may have made history during her tenure on Saturday Night Live, but she surely doesn’t miss it. The Supermarket Sweep host is opening up about the five years she spent on the show, explaining that despite landing the coveted gig, it wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be.

“I don’t miss it at all,” she told Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier. “I miss Kenan [Thompson] but I don’t miss [it]. That job was hard, man.”

Jones started off as a writer on the show and was eventually promoted to a cast member. Some of her most notable skits include her as Omarosa and Gayle King in King’s infamous interview with an erratic R. Kelly.

As for why she doesn’t miss it, Jones says she was limited in what she could do in her role. “That job was like two jobs and very restrictive too. I wasn’t very free there,” she alleges.

Jones announced her departure from the show in an Instagram post in August 2019 writing, “I cannot thank NBC, the producers, writers, and amazing crew enough for making SNL my second home these last five years.”

Despite the catch 22, Jones’ career has continued to flourish even further after her work on SNL. She’s hosted her own Netflix comedy special, has a role in the upcoming sequel to Coming 2 America, and has her new gig on Supermarket Sweep to look forward to — and that’s just what’s coming out soon.
