Lil Rel Howery is set to headline an upcoming comedy series for Fox, which will be produced by none other than Jerrod Carmichael.

It reunites the two, as Howery starred as Carmichael’s brother in his recently-canceled NBC series, The Carmichael Show.

The project  has received a put pilot commitment at Fox, according to The Hollywood Reporter

As of now it is untitled and will center on Lil Rel’s character, who is  “a prideful, self-made success who lives by the code to ‘always believe in yourself and great things will come.’ However, he finds that attitude put to the test when he learns his wife is having an affair with his own barber. He tries to rebuild his life post-divorce as a long-distance single father on the West Side of Chicago on a quest for love, respect, and a new barber.”

Howery will write the script with Josh Rabinowitz & Kevin Barnet. They all will produce and Carmicheal will EP with Mike Scully, who will be showrunner if it is picked up to series.

This is the first project under Carmichael’s new deal with 20th Century Fox Television.

Carmichael also had a Muslim family comedy set up at Hulu starring Ramy Youssef.

After having a breakout success with Get Out and The Carmichael Show, Howery has a busy schedule. He’s starring in the comedy film, Uncle Drew as well as Sandra Bullock’s Netflix sci-fi thriller, Bird Box.
