Starz has announced that the upcoming scripted series Fightland, executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, is now in development. The fictional drama series is set in the “risky, lucrative and high-stakes” world of British boxing.

The project will follow a retired disgraced world champion boxer who has been drawn into the corrupt side of the sport as a result of the disappearance of his childhood best friend and training partner. The troubled fighter will have to go back to a way of life that nearly ruined him and cost him all to leave behind to save his companion. Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith have signed on to script.

“‘Fightland’ embodies the stakes, swagger and ambition that collaborations between STARZ and 50 Cent have come to represent,” said Kathryn Busby, President, Original Programming at STARZ. “We are excited to be working with Daniel and Marlon who are brilliant writers and whose authentic take will bring this global story to life.”

50 Cent will executive produce through G-Unit Film & Television. Francis Hopkinson and Katharine Leadbetter of Expanded Media will produce and executive produce the series for Starz.

Though 50 Cent's deal with Starz ended in September, he says this was his final project.

He commented on his Instagram post about the series announcement, “This was the last show i had to pitch to STARZ first before my deal ended. FIGHT LAND!”
