Major spoilers for the season 1 finale of Loki below

Disney+ has renewed its hit Marvel Studios series Loki for season 2. The news was revealed in the end credits of the season 1 finale.

Not much is known about season 2 of the show, which in season 1 starred Tom Hiddleston, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Tara Strong, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Sasha Lane, Jack Veal, Eugene Cordero, Jack Veal, DeObia Oparei, Richard E. Grant … and as revealed in the season 1 finale, Jonathan Majors.

Yes, Jonathan Majors made his debut as Marvel’s next big bad, Kang the Conqueror….errr at least a version of Kang, He Who Remains. The theory of Kang (or one of his variants) being at the end of time was heavily speculated by fans, but it was still a shocking moment to see come to fruition given how many were wrong about Mephisto or Nightmare showing up in WandaVision. However, Kang always seemed plausible as Lovecraft Country star Majors was already cast in the role for the MCU and was set to appear first in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.

Shadow and Act spoke to Hiddleston ahead of the series premiere and he talked about what to expect. “I don’t want to spoil anything, but I think Loki is confronted by aspects of himself that he’s never fully even imagined were part of him,” he said. “Those confrontations are revelatory and then compel him to take a new course of action and a new direction in his life. I know for sure, it’s something that Marvel has never done.”

Head Writer Michael Waldron also talked to S&A about the series back in June. With Waldron being the writer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and both dealing with the multiverse, we tried to get him to explain how Loki will impact the MCU to come, but he remained coy. “I think what better character to deal with those things than a character as chaotic as Loki but he’s got to make it through his own TV show first,” he said.

No word yet on when to expect season 2 of Loki
