Word on the street is that The Real is coming to an end after eight seasons and one host is responding to the rumors.

The daytime talk show sees Loni Love, Adrienne Bailon, Jeannie Mai, and Garcelle Beauvais give their take on popular culture and other hot topics. It has won several NAACP Image Awards and Emmy Awards. With rumors in the air, Love recently took the time to provide fans with an update on the future of the show.

Loni Love admits the future is uncertain

The Jasmine Brand exclusively reported that The Real would be ending at the close of this season. According to the report, a ratings dip is the cause. There’s also been rumors that Mai and Bailon would not be renewing their contracts. The two, along with Love, have been co-hosts since the show’s inception.

The Jasmine Brand noted that staff on the show had yet to be notified of the cancellation.

Amid the news becoming public, Love took to Twitter to address the speculation. “I got a call from the studio.. no official decision has been made about #TheReal …I will be ok but please give grace to the 150 crew members  this may affect… we will finish Season 8 and wait for official word,” she wrote.”

The current hosts should be OK with or without the show.

The current hosts should be OK with or without the show. Love has authored two books since being on the show. Bailon has released music with her husband, gospel singer Israel Houghton, and has a successful YouTube channel. Mai also has a YouTube channel and has been on maternity leave. Beauvais’ acting career has gotten a second boost and she is also on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Garcelle Beauvais recently spoke to S&A about the talk show’s growth

The Real first premiered in 2013 and has gone through several changes in co-hosts and even subject matter discussed. Initially, many were skeptical if it would survive. Beauvais joined last year and says she attributes its success to the show’s growth.

“I think the show has grown, and I think the audience has grown with the show,” she told S&A. “So I think we’re having much more important conversations, more meaningful conversations. We’re talking about Black Lives Matter now and that’s a powerful voice and a platform to have. And at the same time, with all women of color as hosts. So I think the show has grown up.

We’re talking about things that maybe they didn’t talk about earlier. So I think people are seeing there’s a difference and we’re also having a great time in terms of the fact that we laugh a lot. We play a lot, but yet we still have great conversations.
