Lorraine Toussaint will star in Gloria Steinem biopic The Glorias as civil rights activist Florynce “Flo” Kennedy. She joins Alicia Vikander and Julianne Moore, who will play Steinem at different points in her life.

Deadline describes Kennedy as “a powerhouse and somewhat flamboyant civil rights activist who often showed up in her cowboy hat, false eyelashes and pink sunglasses.” Kennedy’s activism includes organizing a protest against the 1968 Miss America competition and founding the Feminist Party in 1971, supporting Shirley Chisholm as a presidential candidate.

Kennedy was known for utilizing intersectionality and daily acts of resistance, strategies she called as a way that made “white people nervous.”

So far, The Glorias has added Timothy Hutton and Janelle Monáe. Monáe is speculated to play activist Dorothy Pittman Hughes, who co-founded the Women’s Action Alliance with Steinem and other activists in 1971.
