Michaela Coel sings her heart out in the trailer for her upcoming romantic musical, Been So Long. The film will hit Netflix Oct. 26.

As we recently reported, the film, based on the stage show by Ché Walker and Arthur Darvill, became Netflix’s largest UK deal after buying the worldwide rights at Cannes. The film stars Coel a single mother with a broken heart who meets someone new. According to the official description:

“Romance, rage and revenge. Been So Long is a neon soaked, modern day romance set on the streets of London’s musical hot-bed of Camden. We follow Simone (Michaela Coel), a dedicated single mother who, on a rare night on the town is charmed by a handsome yet troubled stranger, igniting old and new feelings. Set against the backdrop of an ever-changing city, Been So Long is a fresh take on love, life and moving on.”

Arinze Kene stars opposite Coel as that “handsome yet troubled stranger” Raymond. Also rounding out the cast are George MacKay, seen most recently in Where Hands Touch and Ronke Adekoluejo.

From what the trailer shows, it seems like Been So Long could become an instant favorite, especially if you’re a fan of Coel, who shows different sides of herself in Chewing Gum, BBC Two/Netflix’s drama Black Earth Rising and her upcoming BBC Two project about sexual consent,  Jan. 22.  Given how bright and colorful the trailer is, Been So Long looks like it could be a capsule of fun in what will otherwise be a spooky October on Netflix, seeing how Chilling Adventures of Sabrina also debuts Oct. 26.
