'Love & Marriage: Huntsville' Creator Confirms He Wanted Melody And Martell Holt To Reconcile: 'Yeah Girl. Take Him Back'

Love & Marriage: Huntsville stars Melody Shari and Martell Holt’s divorce continues to have bitter remnants. The two are embattled in a bitter custody battle over their four children. They recently engaged in a brutal social media war, airing out the dirty laundry of the marriage and split as Holt moves on with Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Sheree Whitfield. While Melody makes it known there’s no future with Martell outside of hopefully co-parenting their children amicably, producer Carlos King says he once hoped the former couple would reconcile, which Melody immediately shot down.

Melody says her divorce has nothing to do with the show

After 14 years of marriage and a multi-million dollar real estate business, Melody divorced Martell amid him fathering a child with his longtime mistress, though she says she didn’t learn of the baby until after she left their marital home. When asked by King on his Reality With the King podcast if she’d still be married to Martell if their business wasn’t exposed publicly, she said reality television was not a factor in her decision.

She said the following, as reported by Urban Belle Mag:

“Us being divorced honestly has nothing to do with ‘Love & Marriage: Huntsville’ but I’ll be quite frank with you, there were more people DM’ing me rooting for me to make my marriage work. There were more people wanting me to stay like y’all have these beautiful children,” she said.

She added:

“There were more people for the marriage than against the marriage. They loved seeing this beautiful, black, young power couple. More people didn’t want me to leave than the ones that did want me to leave. Me leaving was solely a me and God choice. It had nothing to do with…If I went with what more of the fans thought, I would still be married. Truth be told.”

King admits he rooted for Melody to take Martell back

The reaction from fans wanting Melody to give Martell a chance for the dozenth time came as a shock to King also. He told Melody that women in the Black community live by the notion regarding relationships that “the devil you know is better than the one you don’t” and will often stay in toxic relationships because of fear of moving on with another man who will mistreat them. But Melody refused to abide by that notion.

In fact, King says he even wanted Melody to take Martell back.

But Melody wasn’t having it. “I have even have had moments with Melody and said, ‘Yeah girl. Take him back. I miss y’all together.’ And she’d say, ‘Carlos! If you don’t get off my phone!’” King said.
