She recently wrapped filming on Steve McQueen's Twelve Years A Slave, playing Patsey, the pivotal role of a slave who's both the object of affection and cruelty of Master Epps, the character played by Michael Fassbender.

Up next in terms of high-profile film projects for Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o, is a supporting role in the Liam Neeson airplane thriller, Non-Stop, which Jaume Collet-Serra will direct, from a script penned by John Richardson and Chris Roach. Collet-Serra directed Neeson in Unknown last year.

Lupita joins the already-case Nate Parker, Julianne MooreMichelle Dockery and of course Neeson in the Universal Pictures release that will see Neeson as an air marshal who takes on an American terrorist threatening to kill a flight passenger every 20 minutes, unless the marshal kills himself.

Lupita has signed up to play an air hostess named Gwen in the film.

She revealed the news to Kenyan magazine Capital Lifestyle today, stating: "I got the role about three weeks ago and we start shooting in November in New York."

Joel Silver is producing for Silver Pictures along with Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman.

StudioCanal is financing the project and will handle international distribution.

Earlier this month, a feature documentary Lupita directed (yes, she's a filmmaker as well), titled In My Genes, screened at the Maysles Institute (in NYC), in an event presented by Doc Watchers, curated by Hellura Lyle.

With 2 rather high-profile projects (thus far) scheduled to hit theaters next year, 2013 should be a good year for Ms Nyong'o.
