Lionsgate has moved the release of Madea’s Family Funeral from 2018 to March 1, 2019.

It is the eighth film in the Madea franchise at Lionsgate.

Right now, this gives it the same release date as sci-fi flick Chaos Walking starring Tom Holland, Daisy Ridley and David Oyelowo — which is also from Lionsgate. This pretty much means that Chaos Walking will now be pushed back. It was reported in April that the movie would be hit with extensive, major reshoots, so this news is not surprising.

Universal’s How To Train Your Dragon: Hidden World and 20th Century Fox’s The Kid Who Would Be King are also set for release on March 1.

The previously reported plot for Madea’s Family Funeral: The comedy will center on a family reunion that becomes a nightmare as Madea and her posse end up in backwoods Georgia, where they find themselves unexpectedly planning a funeral that might unveil certain family secrets.
