Pose breakout star Indya Moore has earned positive reviews for their performance as Angel. Now, they are parlaying their success on the FX drama into bringing more representation of trans actors to the forefront, especially in the realm of fantasy, science-fiction and horror.
Last July, we reported that Moore was slated to star in a retelling of Frankenstein by filmmaker Che Grayson’s anthology series, Magic Hour. Now, the pilot episode, a starring vehicle for Moore, is seeking funding. The pilot is called “Soul-Search.”
In the pilot episode, Moore will portray the character Bella, a mysterious woman who decides to roam the streets of Tokyo after being trapped in a hotel room by the man who created her for reasons unclear.
As showcased on Kickstarter, Magic Hour is a “TV anthology series that features magical and mystifying stories with Queer & POC folks at the center.” In the vein of The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror, Magic Hour will contain standalone episodes that broach the concept of identity.
In an S&A interview last July, creator Che Grayson revealed that she knew she wanted Moore as the lead in “Soul-Search.”
“I saw her picture, and I was like, ‘Wow, she is so beautiful,’ and then I saw her IMDb and was like, ‘Whoa, she’s in Pose!’ She was actually my dream cast; I never thought I would actually get her as Bella,” she said.
The Kickstarter campaign for Magic Hour’s pilot ends on July 31 and needs to reach $30,000 to reach its goal.
