Mahershala Ali has set another project.

He’ll star in and executive produce a film adaptation of the upcoming true-crime thriller by A.J. Wolfe, called Burn. Anoymous Content acquired the film rights to the book.

The book is a contemporary crime thriller and love story set in the ultra-violent world of organized crime. It follows a Northern California detective who destroyed a cartel while keeping his undercover life secret from his family. Paradigm is handling the publishing rights.

AC’s Nicole Clemens and Kevin Cotter will producer and Fredrick Kotto (a former detective-turned-screenwriter) will script and executive produce with Ali and Artillery Creative’s Tom Carter.

This project is next on Ali’s list along with the films Battle Angel: Alta and Green Book, and of course, he’s also starring at the lead in the new season of HBO’s True Detective.
