During the March 3 episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, fans watched as Malaysia Babydoll Foxx sashayed away after going up against Salina EsTitties in that week’s lip-sync.

Being the first Miami queen to compete on the hit drag competition series, Foxx quickly became a fan-favorite thanks to her incredible fashion sense and no-nonsense attitude. Unfortunately, Malaysia struggled to stand out during her pizza kitchen interview with Frankie Grande and later found herself in the bottom two.

While speaking with Shadow and Act Unscripted, Malaysia opened up about that week’s challenge, which she says she wasn’t fully prepared for.

“I thought naturally, I like to talk, but interviewing somebody is totally different from getting asked questions. So you kind of have to maneuver and direct the conversation as much as possible,” she said. “I don’t think I was prepared because I think a lot of the questions that I had listed, Frankie had kind of like answered them all like in one whop. So I was like, ‘OK, where do we go from here?'”

Though she didn’t excel in the interview challenge, Malaysia proved that she has a knack for fashion while competing in the competition.

When asked where her fashion sense comes from, the Miami native shared that she draws inspiration from life.

“Actually, anything is inspiring to me,” Malaysia shared. “Like people always say ‘what drag queen inspires you?’ but I wouldn’t say like the drag queens or entertainers, inspire me. I like to look at stuff from the runway and I like to just like drag it up. I go on Pinterest and I love a lot of stuff like Thierry Mugler. I like a lot of high fashion stuff.”

She continued, “Honestly, I could go outside and I can see something and it can like really get my mind going about something that I want to do. Like I can see a butterfly and then be like, ‘OK, I want to do a look with butterflies.’ I can look at the sky and say, ‘Oh wow, I want to do something like this.’ So my inspiration just comes from just living life and just going and just whatever catches my attention.”

Since joining RuPaul’s Drag Race, Malaysia has dealt with her fair share of internet trolls. While she’s clapped back at her haters, some of her season 15 sisters have defended her against trolls.

Malaysia said that knowing that the other season 15 queens had her back was the “greatest part” of her Drag Race experience.

“We’re all kind of going through it together and all maneuvering through it together,” she said. “So, you know, it’s like, when one person hurts, we all kind of hurt no matter what we’ve been through or what we’ve experienced. So at the end of day, like whether we have disagreements and stuff, those disagreements happen in that moment, like those disagreements don’t last forever.

She went on to share that what fans can expect from her next is to see her continuing to inspire others.

“Me being the first queen from Miami, I wanted to be on Drag Race because I wanted to open that door, especially for the queens of color. To see that they can have the opportunity to do something so major,” Malaysia explained. “But obviously, I want to continue traveling and meeting people and building those bonds and also, like creating something where it could be my own space on my own show to where I just showcase a lot of local talent from everywhere and, you know, the more drag the better.”

RuPaul’s Drag Race airs Fridays at 8/7c on MTV.
