In the trailer, we see how dangerously powerful Alfre Woodard’s Mariah Dillard has become, with Shades (Theo Rossi) by her side. Even with so much power, she appears to be thirsty for more. With a new foe, Bushmaster (Mustafa Shakir), who has a seemingly old vendetta against her, it seems as if Luke Cage may be the only one who can keep them from burning Harlem to the ground. Also featured in the trailer is Gabrielle Dennis as Tilda Johnson (who becomes the villainess Nightshade in Marvel comics canon) whose retconned history is revealed in the trailer, showing her in the series as Mariah’s daughter.

In season two, after clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.

Marvel’s Luke Cage is executive produced by showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker, Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb. Lucy Liu directs the first episode.

The series stars Mike Colter, Simone Missick, Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi, Mustafa Shakir, Gabrielle Dennis and Rosario Dawson.
