Marsai Martin is continuing to expand her entertainment empire.

She is working on a new television project that is being shopped to buyers It is an ‘unscripted series focused on the stories of trailblazing Black women” with ITV America’s Sirens Media.

It is tentatively titled Baddies and Martin’s production company, Genius Entertainment, is producing.

“Black women have always contributed to American culture,” said Martin in an exclusive statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “They’ve just never gotten the recognition. This show is a fun way of letting people know how dope we are.”

If picked up, it would be the first series from Martin, who became the youngest person to executive produce a major studio film with 2019’s Little. She is also believed to be the youngest person with a first-look deal with a studio, as she has one set up at Universal.

Should it move forward, Baddies will be the first series from the young producer. Martin, best known for her role on ABC’s Black-ish, famously became the youngest person ever to executive produce a major film studio feature with her 2019 film Little. Now 16, this new project aims to blend her curiosity and affinity for pop culture while highlighting previously unsung Black women from the worlds of sports, entertainment, politics and innovation.

“Our team continues to be blown away by Marsai on multiple levels,” said Sirens president Jessica Sebastian-Dayeh. “She’s a creative force of nature and an important voice in our culture, and aside from her obvious talents on camera, is a very deft and thoughtful executive behind the scenes. We’re proud to partner with her and Genius on this series that will shed light on vital stories in imaginative and unexpected fashion.”

The project would be produced by Martin, Joshua and Carol Martin, Nicole Dow and Prince Baggett for Genius Entertainment. Sebastian-Dayeh would executive produce for Sirens Media.
