Fresh off the success of Little, black-ish breakout star Marsai Martin is slowly planting the seeds for longevity in the film and television industry. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter highlighting television’s top 30 supporting actors for Emmy season, the actress revealed which black-ish character she would like to see get their own spinoff series.

“I would love a show with Ruby, the grandma, just seeing her side of the story and seeing how she became herself. I would love to see that,” Martin said. The character of Ruby Johnson is currently played by Jenifer Lewis.

A spinoff on Ruby would make the third black-ish spinoff series. The ABC sitcom has already spawned the Freeform series grown-ish, revolving around the college experience of Zoey Johnson (Yara Shahidi), as well as the upcoming ABC spinoff mixed-ish, which will center around the upbringing of Rainbow Johnson (Tracee Ellis Ross). The latter series will star Arica Himmel and Tika Sumpter.

Meanwhile, Martin’s to do list only keeps growing. Recently, it was announced that the actress will star in a film adaptation for Amari and the Night Brothers, the debut novel from B.B. Alston. She will also star in and produce the upcoming film, StepMonster.
