Freeform has officially canceled Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger. 

The news, which arrived on Thursday, is not surprising given the network was silent about the fate of the show for many months after it wrapped is second season run. According to the report, the show’s options for the cast expired this week.

The Aubrey Joseph and Olivia Holt-led series was critically-acclaimed for both seasons, but saw a viewership dip in Season 2.

The duo will reprise their roles one last time, appearing in episode of Marvel’s Runaways this December.

“We are so proud of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and the trailblazing stories this series told. We are also grateful to our incredible talent Oliva Holt and Aubrey Joseph for bringing these beloved characters to life, and showrunner Joe Pokaski for his vision. We’d like to thank our partners at Marvel Television for a wonderful two seasons and are we are hopeful that we can find another project together,” said Freeform in a statement.

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph), two teenagers from very different backgrounds who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers, and Tyrone can engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.

Andrea Roth, Gloria Reuben, Miles Mussenden, Carl Lundstedt, Emma Lahana, Jaime Zevallos and J.D. Evermore also starred.
