Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is a hit for Freeform.

The debut of the show marked the network’s biggest series launch in over two years in total viewers (1.64 million) and the most-watched drama telecast on any night since the series finale of Pretty Little Liars in June 2017.

The series also opened as Thursday’s No. 1 cable program among teens 12-17 (151,000/0.62 rating), the No. 1 scripted series on cable among women 18-49 (439,000/0.68 rating) and as the No. 1 original scripted cable series among women 18-34 (165,000/0.47 rating), adults 18-49 (737,000/0.57 rating), adults 18-34 (261,000/0.38 rating), persons 12-34 (412,000/0.44 rating) and females 12-34 (249,000/0.53 rating).

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph), two teenagers from very different backgrounds who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers, and Tyrone can engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.

The series stars Olivia Holt, Aubrey Joseph, Andrea Roth, Gloria Reuben, Miles Mussenden, Carl Lundstedt, Emma Lahana, Jaime Zevallos and J.D. Evermore.

It is by Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios. Joe Pokaski (Underground) serves as showrunner and executive producer; Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s head of television, and Jim Chory also serve as executive producers.

Our review of the series reads, “This storytelling method sets the show apart from the rest of the pack of Marvel television and even television in general. It’s weird. It’s trippy. And it’s great. You probably haven’t seen TV like this before.”
