In The Heights, Hamilton and She’s Gotta Have It star Anthony Ramos has been tapped for a role in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Ironheart series opposite Dominique Thorne.

Deadline broke the news of his casting, but no other details are available about his role. He is the first actor to join relative newcomer Thorne in the series.

Thorne, who has appeared in If Beale Street Could Talk and Judas and the Black Messiahwill play the titular character of RiRi Williams / Ironheart. She will star in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever before headlining Ironheart. Created by Brian Michael Bendis, and artist Mike Deodato, RiRi came to fruition in 2016’s Invincible Iron Man No. 7.

The series follows Williams, a “genius inventor” and “the creator of the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man.”

Ramos, who has been acclaimed since his stint on Broadway’s Hamilton, went on to become a fan-favorite in Netflix’s iteration of Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It. He’s also starred in HBO’s In Treatment and Warner Bros.’ In the Heights. Ramos just finished shooting Transformers Rise of the Beasts, ahead of its 2023 release. He stars in that film opposite Dominique Fishback.

Chinaka Hodge will serve as head writer for the series. Kevin Feige first announced the news about Ironheart in December 2020.
