After an extended break, Master of None‘s third season will hit Netflix in May.

The streaming giant first revealed the news via its @NetflixQueue account.

However, as reported by Variety, Aziz Ansari’s Dev is believed to not be the focus of the season. Instead, Lena Waithe‘s Denise will reportedly be the central character of the season, which will be titled: Master of None Presents: Moments in Love.

Ansari directed the five-episode season and the episodes were written by him and Waithe.

The first season of the show premiered in 2015 and the second one dropped in 2017. However, no word about season 3 came after a sexual misconduct accusation levied against Ansari. The show has been off the air for four years.

As IndieWire reports, “A woman with the pseudonym Grace accused the comedian of being overly aggressive with her on a date, telling The Atlantic that she felt Ansari ‘violated’ her, adding, ‘That that whole experience was actually horrible.’ Ansari defended himself against the accusations, releasing a statement that read: “In September of last year, I met a woman at a party. We exchanged numbers. We texted back and forth and eventually went on a date. We went out to dinner, and afterwards we ended up engaging in sexual activity, which by all indications was completely consensual.”

It was rumored that the season was shot at some point last year for a 2021 release.

Waithe became the first black woman to win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series in 2017 for writing the “Thanksgiving” episode of the show.
