We’re sad to report that MasterChef Junior star Ben Watkins has died at the age of 14.

The family shared the following statement on social media via attorney Trent A. McCain.

“After losing both his parents in September 2017, we have marveled at Ben’s strength, courage and love for life,” the statement reads in part, penned by his maternal grandmother and uncle. “He never, ever complained. Ben was and will always be the strongest person we know.”

Statement from the Family of Ben Watkins #Love4Ben

He died five months after being diagnosed with angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma diagnosis, a rare tumor that can affect younger people. He is one of only six people worldwide to be diagnosed with the illness.

In 2017, Watkins lost his parents, Leila Edwards and Mike Watkins, in a murder-suicide. The tragedy led fans to develop a trust fund for Watkins called the #Love4Ben campaign, raising almost $30,000.

Our thoughts are with Watkins’ loved ones at this time.
The family has created a GoFundMe for his memorial fund.
