Actor Matt Nicholas is penning the script for, and will star in Iconic Media Production’s drama The Five, which is based on a real-life story of 5 African American scholarship students who face racism while attending a private Christian school in the south.

I couldn’t immediately identify what real-life story the film will be based on, and whether it’s a recent occurrence or something that happened decades ago. The Screen Daily report doesn’t specify. But American history is littered with instances of black students facing discrimination at predominantly white schools, which, in some cases, led to major landmarks in the progress of African Americans in academia.

You’ll know more, when I know more.

The film, budgeted at $10 million, is set to shoot in North Carolina later this year, with Iconic Media producing.
