This is the second theatrical release for Hair Love, which made its premiere with The Angry Birds Movie 2 in August 2019.
The success of Hair Love is also impacting others’ lives as well. Aside from creating online moments to celebrate fathers who care for their daughters’ hair, Cherry and producers Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade have also invited Deandre Arnold to walk the red carpet as their special guest.
Since Deandre Arnold’s school didnt want to let him walk at his graduation because of his hair we figured that he should walk with us on the red carpet at the #Oscars as our special guest. Thank you @itsgabrielleu @DwyaneWade & @Dove for their help. pic.twitter.com/RD8cv0iL8G

Arnold came into the public eye after his Texas high school wouldn’t allow him to walk in his graduation after he refused to cut his hair. The teen has since been given a $20,000 college scholarship by Ellen DeGeneres and Alicia Keys.
The Oscars air Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. ET.
