The release date for the soundtrack to the upcoming film, Queen & Slim, has been announced. The soundtrack is set to be released on November 15, before the film’s release date of November 27.

The 17-track soundtrack will feature songs from the likes of Ms. Lauryn Hill (her first solo song in many years), Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Baby, Vince Staples featuring 6lack X Mereba, Tiana Major9 & EARTHGANG, Coast Contra featuring BJ The Chicago Kid and Syd, plus classic songs by Roy Ayers, Bilal and Mike Jones.

“I wanted the soundtrack for Queen & Slim to showcase the historical evolution of Black music, from its roots in blues and soul to modern bounce, hip hop and R&B–much like we used to see in film soundtracks in the 90s,” Queen & Slim Director Melina Matsoukas said of the soundtrack. “We partnered with Motown because of their legacy within Black music. I am honored to have worked beside Ethiopia [Habtemariam] and cannot wait for audiences to hear what each artist has created.”

Written by Emmy Award winner Lena Waithe and James Frey, Queen & Slim revolves around a man and a woman whose first date results in them being forced to go on the run when the former kills a police officer in self-defense after being pulled over for a minor traffic infraction. The film stars Daniel Kaluuya, Jodie Turner-Smith, Indya Moore, Jahi Winston, Chloe Sevigny and Bokeem Woodbine.
