Self-proclaimed anime superfan Michael B. Jordan is going to voice the main character in an upcoming series from Rooster Teeth, a streaming service for gamers that launched in 2016.

The series is called gen:LOCK. Jordan’s Outlier Society will co-produce with Rooster Teeth.

The description: In gen:LOCK, Earth’s last free society is on the losing side of a global war and recruits a diverse team of young pilots to control the next generation of mecha-giant, weaponized robot bodies. As Chase leaves behind his life as a fighter pilot to become the first candidate for the program, he finds his endurance, as well as his very identity, will be tested.

Jordan will lend his voice to the main character, Julian Chase.

It is unknown when the series will premiere, but it should be expected this year.

“Michael’s visionary career choices and commitment to meaningful entertainment, not to mention his love of anime, line up perfectly with what drives Rooster Teeth. We’re thrilled for the opportunity to do some cool sci-fi storytelling together,” Gray Haddock, head of animation at Rooster Teeth and the creator of the series, said.
