Every awards season results in a “so-and-so should’ve won” moment. In the case of black creators, there are way too many unsung incidents where a highly acclaimed black actor or television show missed out on an Emmy Award.

In a brilliant sketch, co-host Michael Che decided to make things right with the “Reparations Emmys.”

Honored talent included Marla Gibbs (The Jeffersons), Kadeem Hardison (A Different World), Tichina Arnold (Martin), Jimmie Walker (Good Times) and Jaleel White (Family Matters).

In one particularly hilarious moment, Che honored The Wire, which arguably didn’t truly receive its flowers until it was already off the air (it did receive two Emmy nominations for Writing, but didn’t win) and talked ish about multi-Emmy-Award-winner Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad)… while he was sitting at the next table nearby.

Hilarious.
