Michael Evans Behling called being part of All American “truly overwhelming.”

The star talked with Shadow And Act’s Trey Mangum for the Opening Act podcast about his experiences on the popular CW show, including interacting with series’ extensive online fanbase.

Behling said that reading the fandom chatter was “eye-opening” for him.

“I’ve never seen that much reach before, I’ve never been a part of something that had so much reach,” he said. “So that’s what was the big eye-opening factor to me, that we reached so many people and so many people…found the show that we’re number one on Netflix.”

Being part of such a nationwide phenomenon was “truly baffling” to Behling, but it made him want to work even harder as an actor.

“As an actor it made me excited to make Season Two [of All American],” he said. “It made me excited to just be better, to better my craft, to work that much harder to start to create…my own legacy, my own journey, and that’s what…kickstarted it for me.”

Listen to more of what Behling had to say about being a part of All American in the video below. All American has wrapped airing its third season this June, with the fourth season already ordered among a slate of renewals by The CW.
