Michael Jackson’s life will be coming to the big screen.

According to Deadline, Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King has secured the rights from Michael Jackson’s estate to create a film based on Jackson’s life. Sources tell Deadline that King will have access to all of Jackson’s music. Even though the film is not tied to a studio yet, King’s production company GK Films has already hired Oscar-nominated writer John Logan to write the film’s script.

News of the film has already led to an array of opinions on Twitter, with many wondering if the more salacious and horrific parts of his life will be included, and if so, to what degree. Some of that worry could come from the fact that Bohemian Rhapsody itself wasn’t considered largely factual, even though it had the blessing of the remaining members of Queen behind it. For instance, several people brought up the fact that Queen’s Live Aid performance took place a full two years before Freddie Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS, as Yahoo! Entertainment points out. Other inaccuracies include the suggestion of tension between bandmates over Mercury’s solo career. In reality, the band did work on solo albums, but not seemingly because of Mercury’s desire to work on other projects. The band also didn’t reunite for Live Aid, since they had already been touring together prior to the concert. Many are wondering if the same level of apparent inaccuracies will happen with this film.

Another point of concern is how much of Jackson’s life will the estate want to be shown? It isn’t clear what aspects of the artist’s life will be depicted in the film, including the child abuse allegations brought up in the HBO documentary Leaving Neverlandbut it was expressed that the film “isn’t intended to be a sanitized rendering of Jackson’s life.”

How accurate will this new Jackson film be? We will have to wait and see.
