The busy Michael K. Williams is in talks to join the cast of the currently untitled Disney/Lucasfilm young Han Solo “Star Wars” standalone film.

Should an agreement be eventually reached, Williams will become member of a cast that already includes Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, as well as Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Woody Harrelson and Emilia Clarke (whose respective roles aren’t public info at this time).

No word on what role Williams is being considered for.

The movie will explore Han’s adventures before the events of “Star Wars: A New Hope,” including their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are directing the movie, with filming already underway at Pinewood studios in London.

By the way, Academy Award nominee (for his work on ‘Arrival’) Bradford Young is the Director of Photography on the film, as he continues to add big budget studio productions to his resume.

Williams can currently be seen in the ABC mini series “When We Rise”; He will next be seen in season 2 of Sundance TV’s “Hap and Leonard” series.

The untitled Han Solo “Star Wars” film is slated for release on May 25, 2018.

Variety was first to report the news of Williams being in talks to join the cast.
