Michael K. Williams Has Died At 54

Acclaimed actor Michael K. Williams has died. He was 54.

His cause of death has not been confirmed. Williams’ PR team says the following: “It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Emmy nominated actor Michael Kenneth Williams. They ask for your privacy while grieving this unsurmountable loss.”

Williams is most known for his iconic role of Omar Little on The Wire. An HBO mainstay, he also played Chalky White on Boardwalk Empire, Jack Gee in Bessie, Freddy Knight in The Night Of and Montrose Freeman in Lovecraft Country.

He also played Bobby McCray in Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us. He was nominated for Emmys for his work in The Night Of and When They See Us, and he is currently up for an Emmy this month for Lovecraft Country.

He will have several films released posthumously, including Surrounded with Letitia Wright and 892 with John Boyega and Nicole Beharie.

Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.
