Chloe Bailey is set to star as history-making Wall Street trader Lauren Simmons, known as “the Wolfette of Wall Street,” in the upcoming film Midas Touch. Kiersey Clemons was attached to star in and produce the film back in 2018 but exited for unknown reasons.

The film is based on the true story of Simmons, the groundbreaking Black Wall Street trader who made history as the youngest equity trader on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange and only the second Black woman to hold the position.

Numa Perrier, known for her acclaimed indie film Jezebel, will direct Midas Touch from a script she co-wrote with Loki writer Amber Dupre. Perrier also directs the upcoming Netflix film, The Perfect Find, starring Gabrielle Union and Keith Powers.

Simmons, whose life rights were optioned by AGC Studios, serves as executive producer on Midas Touch.

In addition to Simmons, the film will also be produced by AGC Studios chairman and CEO Stuart Ford, AGC chief creative officer Lourdes Diaz, and EVP of production Glendon Palmer.

Bailey, who starred in several seasons of Freeform’s grown-ish, also starred in the recent film Jane and will also star opposite Russell Crowe in The Georgetown Project.
