The first trailer has been released for Vertical Entertainment’s Miss Virginia.

It features a star-studded cast including Uzo Aduba, Niles Fitch, Vanessa Williams, Amirah Vann, Aunjanue Ellis, Ethan Herisse, Matthew Modine and Adina Porter. The film is coming to select theaters and video-on-demand on October 18.

The film, directed by R.J. Daniel Hanna, is based on the true story of a woman who ends up changing the lives of children just by fighting for her son’s education. According to the official description: “Unwilling to allow her son to stay in a dangerous school, she launches a new movement that could save his future–and that of thousands like him.”

In a prior statement, writer-producer Erin O’Connor said: “The Miss Virginia team is delighted to partner with Vertical in bringing the inspiring true story of Virginia Walden Ford to audiences across the U.S. Her story is one of grit, determination, and the transformative power of a mother who refuse to give up on her son.”
