Missed it in Theatres? BET Presents World Television Premiere of 'Chocolate City' TONIGHT, June 10 at 8pm

CHOCOLATE CITY BETThat was fast! The film opened theatrically on May 22nd, about 3 weeks ago, and fared quite well actually, considering that it’s a *smaller* indie film whose widest release was just 24 theaters, and it was in theaters for only 18 days. It grossed over $204,000.

If one of those 24 theaters wasn’t in your city, or anywhere close to you, and you’re interested in seeing the film, you should know that BET Networks picked it up, and will give it its world television premiere TONIGHT, June 10, at 8pm ET.

I’m only just learning about this, via the press release I received just this morning.

“Chocolate City” gives audiences an inside look into the world of male exotic dancers.

The movie stars Robert Ri’chard, Michael Jai White, DeRay Davis, Tyson Beckford, Darrin Dewitt Henson and Vivica Fox.

Jean-Claude LaMarre wrote and directed.

Official synopsis reads: "In ‘Chocolate City’ the music is hot, the mood is magical, and the exotic male dancers are simply delicious. Women go wild as these toned, talented men make fantasies come true… and the arrival of a young, new exotic dancer (Robert Ri’chard) has the spot sizzling like never before. At home, he is Michael, an inner city college student struggling to help his mother (Vivica A. Fox) make ends meet. However, when his part time job doesn’t pay the bills, Michael begins to find success at a nightclub dancing as “Sexy Chocolate.” As the money starts rolling in, Michael must deal with the unexpected pressure of being the female clubgoers’ favorite flavor while hiding his new “job” from his mother and girlfriend. ‘Chocolate City’ is a steamy, fun ride that has all the right moves."

It’s an R-rated film, so I’m wondering how BET (which isn’t a premium cable TV network like Showtime or HBO, where R-rated material lives) is going to present it – as is, or has some editing already been done ahead of tonight’s premiere?
