VH1 announced today that Missy Elliott will be honored for her work as an artist and writer/producer by a number of collaborators and artists she has influenced at “VH1 Hip Hop Honors: All Hail the Queens.” Pharrell, Timbaland, Nelly Furtado, Remy Ma, Trina, Eve, Tweet, Keyshia Cole, Raven Symone, Monica, Fantasia and Jazmine Sullivan and more will all honor the groundbreaking artist.
After a six-year hiatus, the revered “VH1 Hip Hop Honors” is back celebrating the best and brightest in hip hop with a twist. This year’s live event will pay homage to the female pioneers, trailblazers and trend-setters who led a movement and infiltrated the ranks of the male-dominated genre to make their voices heard and still do today.
Missy Elliott has achieved and maintained success over three decades. The five-time Grammy Award-winning producer/songwriter/singer/rapper has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. In addition to releasing innovative and acclaimed music, Missy Elliott has become synonymous with groundbreaking music videos with the video for her most recent single, “WTF (Where They From),” racking up over 40 million views on YouTube. All six of Missy Elliott’s studio albums have been RIAA platinum certified or better, making her the only female rapper to have achieved this.
“VH1 Hip Hop Honors: All Hail the Queens” will air Monday, July 11th at 9PM ET LIVE from New York’s David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center.
Eve will host the celebration.
