Monica To Host VH1 True Crime Series 'Infamy: When Fame Turns Deadly'

VH1 just announced a new true crime series, Infamy: When Fame Turns Deadly. Hosted by Monica, the eight-episode series will document celebrity cases where “notoriety and fame turn deadly.”

Each episode will unravel the mystery and the motives behind high-profile celebrity crimes; revealing a dark side to being in the public eye and exploring what happens when betrayal, jealousy and greed lead to tragedy.

Cases featured this season include the murder of NBA player Lorenzen Wright and the investigation of his shocking death; the death of hip-hop artist Young Greatness, who was mysteriously gunned down in his hometown of New Orleans; a runway model found dead at the bottom of a swimming pool; and a popular Chicago radio personality targeted by someone nobody could expect.

Monica has her own personal experience with tragedy. When she was just 19-years-old, she witnessed the death by suicide of her then-boyfriend, Jarvis Weems.

Prior to her relationship with Weems, Monica’s first real love, rapper C-Murder, who she began dating at just 16, was sentenced to life in prison for murder. Monica insists C-Murder is innocent. She’s currently working with Kim Kardashian to try and have him released.

This is Monica’s first true crime hosting gig. She’s been a force in the music industry for nearly 20 years, signing her record deal when she was just 12-years-old. She’s the youngest female ever to have two #1 back-to-back hits on Billboard’s R&B chart from her 1995 debut album “Miss Thang.” Additionally, Monica is the first artist ever to have #1 Billboard singles in three consecutive decades, which puts her in the elite company of history-making superstars such as Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, James Brown and Marvin Gaye.

The show will debut on Monday, June 7 at 10 pm EST following the season premiere of Cartel Crew
