Queen Latifah and The Biggest Loser creator/executive producer Dave Broome are teaming up to produce a music competition series for The CW network.

Titled The Star Next Door (although that might change), the series, which has already received a 10-episode order, will feature what it calls mentors (like Gloria Estefan and country music star John Rich) who go on a nationwide search for undiscovered artists, and immerse themselves in the lives of these performers, while preparing them for the chance to represent their hometowns live on national TV.
Queen Latifah and her Flavor Unit partner Shakim Compere will executive produce.
Recall that Latifah also has a daytime talk show with Sony Pictures TV in development, which Flavor Unit is co-producing alongside Will Smith and James Lassiter’s Overbrook Entertainment.
Flavor Unit also produces scripted series for BET and VH1.
