Morris Chestnut, along with Jennifer Carpenter, has been cast as the lead in the upcoming NBC pilot, The Enemy Within.

Reportedly due to both stars having led recent series (Carpenter with Limitless and Chestnut with Rosewood) and in-demand for pilots this season, the stars for signed onto this potential series in “premium, high-end deals.”

Here’s the descriptionThe Enemy Within is a character-driven investigative thriller set in the world of counterintelligence. It focuses on former CIA agent Erica Wolfe (Carpenter), the most notorious traitor in modern history and most hated woman in America, who is brought out of a federal supermax prison by the FBI to help stop some of the most dangerous acts of espionage threatening the United States today. Chestnut will play Will Keaton, an FBI counter-intelligence agent who had brought down the traitor Erica Wolfe and whose fiancee had been murdered as a result of Wolfe’s activities.

Chestnut has been busy on TV lately. Along starring in the title role for Rosewood on Fox for two seasons, he’s been was in Amazon’s Goliath, TNT’s Legends and Showtime’s Nurse Jackie.

There was never any further word on the status of a bomb squad drama he was starring in and executive producing, which received a put pilot commitment at Fox. But since this is such a huge deal, we expect it did not make it to pilot order.
