Brittany Perry-Russell and her son Isaiah Russell-Bailey are making history in Robert Rodriguez’s Netflix action-packed family film, We Can Be Heroes. As superpowered characters Red Lightning Fury and Rewind, respectively, Perry-Russell and Russell-Bailey have become the first mother and son duo in a superhero film.
The two told Shadow And Act’s Trey Mangum about the achievement on Shadow And Act Live.
“When I heard my mom got it, I was so happy, we had so much fun on set together, said Russell-Bailey. “Being the first mother and son [duo] is definitely a blessing because you don’t really get to work with your parents a lot, that doesn’t really happen much.”
“When we went to see the billboard for the first time, there were tears, we were jumping up and down,” said Perry-Russell. “But we stopped and prayed because…God’s timing is always on-point, and you have a plan and you want to accomplish that goal, but when you pray about it and give it to God, it’s always bigger than you could have imagined. We didn’t even go into this thinking we would be the first. We didn’t find that out until after.”
