The trailer for Nikyatu Jusu’s award-winning Nanny, which stars Anna Diop and Sinqua Walls, has been released ahead of its premiere at TIFF next month.

The film from Blumhouse and Prime Video is set to come to theaters on Nov. 23 and on Prime Video on Dec 16. The horror film, which is the debut feature of director-writer Jusu, is the first horror film to win the Sundance Film Festival Dramatic Grand Jury Prize. Jusu is also only the second Black female directed to receive the award.

Here's the official description:

In this psychological horror fable of displacement, Aisha (Anna Diop), a woman who recently emigrated from Senegal, is hired to care for the daughter of an affluent couple (Michelle Monaghan and Morgan Spector) living in New York City. Haunted by the absence of the young son she left behind, Aisha hopes her new job will afford her the chance to bring him to the U.S., but becomes increasingly unsettled by the family’s volatile home life. As his arrival approaches, a violent presence begins to invade both her dreams and her reality, threatening the American dream she is painstakingly piecing together.

This tale about a Senegalese immigrant’s experience working for a wealthy family is based on actual domestic servants’ experiences. The story is relevant to Nikyatu Jusu’s upbringing because his mother supported their family via this line of work. Jusu integrated aspects of the spiritual genre that resonated to her heritage.

Michelle Monaghan, Morgan Spector, Leslie Uggams, Rose Decker also star.

The upcoming horror film is produced by Nikkia Moulterie and Daniela Taplin Lundberg, with Maria Zuckerman, Ryan Heller, Michael Bloom, Jason Blum, Rebecca Cammarata, Bill Benenson, Nnamdi Asomugha, Laurie Benenson, Grace Lay, Sumalee Montano, Nikyatu Jusu, Chris McCumber, and Jeremy Gold serving as executive producers.
