Naomie Harris revealed that her James Bond character Moneypenny could have had her own spinoff film directed by one of the biggest directors in the game.

IndieWire reports that while promoting her new film Black and Blue, Harris told Good Morning America that talks of a Moneypenny film directed by Barry Jenkins came up. However, the producers behind the Bond franchise weren’t on board.

“He’s wanted to do a badass, kick-action thing with Moneypenny, which I’m all for,” she said of Jenkins, who directed her to acclaim in the Oscar-winning feature film Moonlight. “I got together with our producer, Barbara Broccoli, and was like, ‘Let’s make this happen.’ But she wasn’t down for it. But maybe, one day, who knows. The conversation has started at least, and we’re continuing it here.”

With news of a Black female Bond coming to screen, perhaps the times are changing enough that the Bond producers will consider giving Moneypenny her own film. We’ll wait and see.
