Natasha Rothwell is set to star in and produce the new comedy series, How to Die Alone that will be on Hulu from Onyx Collective and ABC Signature.

The announcement came Thursday along with the news that Rothwell, who honed her writing chops on HBO and Issa Rae’s Insecure, will write, star and co-showrun the series along with PEN15 writer/producer Vera Santamaria for ABC Signature. The Bisexual star Desiree Akhavan will also serve as executive producer.

Rothwell's upcoming project is under her overall deal with ABC Signature and Onyx Collective through her production company, Big Hattie Productions.

In the series, Rothwell will star as a woman who has never had a relationship, but after a near-death experience, she becomes determined to live her life to the fullest.

According to the official description:

How to Die Alone follows Melissa (Rothwell), a fat, black, neurotic who’s never been in love. After a comical brush with death, she refuses to settle for anything less than the life she wants, catapulting her on a journey to becoming “100% that bitch” in real life by any means necessary.

Onyx Collective is a content brand recently formed under Disney General Entertainment Content designed to curate stories by creators of color and creators from marginalized communities
